Photoshop Tutorial Preview

Step 1

To begin, start Adobe Photoshop and open a picture into Photoshop.

Step 2

Duplicate the layer by pressing Ctrl+J and set the blending mode for the new layer to Overlay.

Step 3

Select the new layer and then press Ctrl+L to open the levels tool. In the levels Photoshop tool, move the middle slider all the way to the very right then click OK.

Step 4

Now go to Filter> Blur> Motion Blur. This Photoshop filter will blur the details in any angle you want. Pick an angle that you like and then adjust the amount. The settings you use here will affect the final results.

Step 5

Now press Ctrl+L again to open Photoshop’s levels tool. But this time, drag the middle slider all the way to the left and click OK.

Step 6

For this step, we’ll increase the saturation. To do this, press Ctrl+U to open Photoshop’s hue/saturation tool. Move the saturation towards the right to increase the saturation.

Step 7

Now select the bottom layer and then go to Image> Adjustments> Brightness/Contrast. Increase the contrast so that the photo looks stronger. If you are using Photoshop CS3, you can set it to 100. But if you’re using older versions, don’t set it that high. Use around 50%.

Final Results

Now press Shift+Ctrl+U to desaturate the photo. And now you’re done! Here’s the final Photoshop effect:
